We are delighted to announce the arrival of the latest member to the Equator team, Owen Patrick Duffy (shown here with his excited big brother and sister), born to proud parents Michael and Jen on Wednesday, weighing in at a healthy 7lb 1oz.
We are sure all our clients and suppliers will join everyone here at Equator in passing on best wishes and congratulations to the family.
Blades awards 2011

We are delighted to announce that our Borsari Panettone work for Winterbotham Darby and Waitrose has been shortlisted in the Packaging Category in the Design stream of this year's Blades 2011 awards. Whatever the outcome in September, we are proud to be nominated and shortlisted. The Blades awards are fairly unique in that the criteria for success is based on client feedback, so our shortlisting is a testament to our strong relationship with Winterbotham Darby and the excellent work that Sue, Anna, Tamara and the design team have put in to managing the account and the client expectations.

Race For Life 2011

Big congratulations to Emily and Jo from Equator UK for donning their running shoes and taking part earlier this month in Race For Life 2011 at Nottingham Embankment, raising over £300 between them for Cancer Research. On a hot and sunny morning, Emily and Jo lined up alongside thousands of other ladies of all ages and abilities to tackle the 5km course. After a warm up led by two hunky men they were ready to go, completing the course in a great time of 32 minutes with enough energy left for a sprint finish at the end. There was a great atmosphere to the whole event with everybody wearing pink and supporting each other throughout.

The Top 100

It's that time of year again when a lot of design agencies around the UK are excited and nervous in equal measure about the publication of Design Week's Top 100 Supplement, and we are certainly no exception.
So when our copy arrived this morning, we were delighted and excited to see we have entered the list this year at position number 64. This is just reward for all the hard work put in over the last year not just by the UK team, but by our offices overseas as well.
New UK Creative Director

After several months of discussions, we are delighted to announce that Vanessa Christian has joined Equator Design as UK Creative Director. Vanessa's previous role was as Head of Design at Thorntons PLC where she has been for the past 5 years, prior to which she was at Checkland Kindleysides for 9 years working on accounts that included No7 for Boots PLC, Christy Towels, Royal Doulton, Marks & Spencer and Early Learning Centre.
Sue Allsopp, Managing Director, said, “In recent months we have made significant client gains globally and Vanessa brings tremendous expertise to help further improve the services we provide to these new and existing clients.”
Vanessa, delighted to be working consultancy side again, said, “Equator appealed to me as a fantastic, creative consultancy where I could still work in the branding, packaging and retail sectors that I love, across a wide portfolio of brands."
Vanessa's experience, expertise and enthusiasm is already having an impact in our studio and was instrumental in helping secure a major new client.
Onwards and upwards

Here at Equator, delivering excellent design day in, day out is what we do and what we love, and we look for little more than the approval of our clients and the satisfaction of a job well done.
But that is not to say we don't like the occasional recognition of our hard work from our peers. So it was
with considerable excitement we received the news this week that we are featured in the special Design Week supplement on Packaging and Branding in the UK,
as being 21st in the UK in the list of independent packaging and branding groups. It is certainly exciting for us to be mixing in such illustrious circles.
A big thank you to all the team for helping us reach this position.
"Race to Wrigley", 2011

The 6th annual "Race to Wrigley" 5K Run was held on Saturday, April 16, 2011 and Duffy, Katy and Dan stepped up to the plate to represent Equator. The race started at the legendary Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, taking in the streets of the Lake View neighborhood en route, before returning to the stadium where the runners ran through Wrigley Field's ground level concourse, and finished under the famed Wrigley Field Marquee.
A typical April Spring morning in Chicago brought along pouring rains during the run, although that didn’t stop the team. Through the rain, 8,000 participants, including all three Equator members, crossed the finish line. Best team time went to Dan who was resting comfortably at home by the time Duffy and Katy crossed the finish line!
Congratulations to all who took part, and for helping raise money for the Children's Memorial Hospital.
Welcome to The Loft...

Our new studio provides an inspirational environment to work in, and our designs are
a testament to that! Set in a leafy street, surrounded by cafés and restaurants, the team is enjoying trying out each and every one, whilst partaking in a bit of celebrity spotting - we don't just hang around with your average Joe you know....
It's not all about sampling local delicacies though (did we mention the Tapas at Delicados are to die for...?), we all worked and continue to work really hard to progress the studio. We now have a space to be genuinely proud of and showing it off to clients and suppliers has already resulted in some new briefs!!
