The Queen's Jubilee tour comes to Nottingham
14/06/12
As part of the Queen's Jubilee tour, Her Majesty the Queen visited Nottingham yesterday accompanied by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The royal party arrived in the Lace Market at around 10:15 BST and we were lucky enough to see the convoy as it headed towards the Old Market Square where the royals would appear on the Council House balcony to acknowledge the 10,000+ crowd. Andrea of our artwork team managed to take the photograph above just as the Queen waved to the hundreds of people lining the streets. The picture below shows Karen, Zoë, Emily, Libby and Andrea eagerly anticipating the royal arrival.
The Queen also unveiled a plaque at Vernon Park, which has been granted Queen Elizabeth II Fields in Trust status.

Jubilicious!
06/06/12
Last Friday, we joined in the national Diamond Jubilee celebrations in style with a themed Jubilee lunch with red, white and blue food and Union Jacks a plenty!
Everyone wore red, white and blue outfits and Karen even made a special hat and a cake stand from old vinyl records! After toasting the Queen with rhubarb and custard pop, we launched into the afternoon’s work buzzing with sugar and e-numbers!

Crowning glory!
21/05/12
As part of the Jubllee celebrations, Harrods have commissioned the creation of 31 stunning handmade crowns from famous designers around the world to be displayed in the windows of their Knightsbridge store, showcased in red and golden frames.
Great British fashion brands Paul Smith and Mulberry have created their own quirky versions, the Mulberry crown being ‘dipped’ in hundreds and thousands, inspired by this season’s ‘Candy’ colours, looking good enough to eat.
Nottingham’s own Paul Smith's crown is studded with retro jubilee badges and memorabilia buttons, topped with a cut-out corgi!
Paul Smith explained how they were all sent a basic steel crown as a starting point, he then looked around his own eclectic studio for inspiration. He wanted to create a crown that people would be fascinated to look at and discover new things each and every time they saw it.
(I’m sure I used to have a silver jubilee badge like that… I'm going to have to try and dig it out!)

The making of the Harrods' Diamond Jubilee collection can be seen here. The crowns will be on display from Tuesday 15th May until Friday 15th June.

Cool Britannia!
17/05/12
With the Queen's Jubilee fast approaching, Britain is going to town with celebrations and some very British-themed products have appeared on the shelves.
I first spotted Mr Kipling 'French Fancies', sorry, I meant 'Great British Fancies'! The icing on the cakes has been changed from the usual pink, yellow and brown to red, white and blue. Mr Kipling have also brought out 'Victoria Mini Classics' and you can't have a tea party without a Victoria sponge! Cadbury's Mini Rolls have joined in the celebrations with a strawberry, blueberry and cream filling.
Marmite's limited edition 'Ma'amite' is a very clever and subtle play on words - do you "love it or hate it"?
Some other well punned products are Nestlé's 'Brit Kat' rather than the 'Kit Kat' and Weetabix have played on 'Rule Britannia' with 'Fuel Britannia'.
Hovis, McVities and Soreen are just some of the many other brands who are jumping on the Jubilee British bandwagon.
Personally, I love it and shall be hosting a Jubilee 'Big Lunch' party myself on my street in June with lots of British paraphernalia filling the tables!
